Work in Progress

The goal in this work is to show the good and the bad times in relationships. I want to have a combination of stereotypical photos of siblings hugging as well as photos of siblings fighting. I want to show how no relationship is perfect. I plan on showing all types of relationships, siblings, couples, spouses, cousins and friends. I plan on putting a lot of images into a album. I plan to do this because albums usually contain all the photos of people looking at the camera and smiling and all nice, but my album will contain photos of of the traditional photos, as well as the ones that no one usually sees. I expect people to get laughter as a reaction to my photos. I also expect to get an "awww" every now and  again. I hope it works!!

  2. Your project makes me think of my childhood and my relationship with my siblings. I love the fact that you show the entire relationship, including arguments and fights. Your pictures are great and very entertaining. I feel like am watching a heart warming movie about siblings.

I like that you are contradicting the usual photo album.
The photos are all properly exposed and look like they are in focus. I like the vantage point and details included.
I am excited to see the final project.

  3. It is an intriguing idea to challenge the viewer's notion of what should be in a family album. Instead of all smiling faces and happy moments, you will also show conflict, disagreements, and the not-so-pretty moments. You will transcend the typical family snapshot. I think these images are a good start. I especially enjoy the first two because the children seem unaware of the camera, and I can focus on their interaction with one another instead of their reaction to the camera. The third image is also intriguing because of the boy's pained expression in relation to the two girls. I think you may enjoy the work of Elinor Carucci, specially her series "my children"…instead of focusing soely on the happy moments involved in having kids, she focuses also on the difficult to look at, the grotesque, and the negative. 4. Ah i like this project. I'm very close to my sister so i can relate to these ideas. The photo album is a great way to showcase these photographs, and even maybe throughout the years add more photos like these to it! The 2nd photo is my favorite, it just looks like childhood fun and laughter. not a typical family photo, but yet a very fun and family themed aspect. years from now this would be a great piece to show the children too! i think they'd love that.
